We will welcome 2026-2027 District Governor Uche Ugoku as he makes his first visit to our Rotary club.  As well we will ask our new DG to assist with welcoming some new members.

The annual END POLIO NOW flag raising at Guelph City Hall to recognize World Polio Day (October 24th) has been arranged by Rotary Club of Guelph Trillium and is scheduled for WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 21st.   This will represent Cam Guthrie's last hosting as Guelph Mayor of this annual event..

We will cancel our regular weekly breakfast meeting in order to assemble at the Sunrise Therapeutic Riding & Learning Centre in Puslinch for a tour of the facility.

Sunrise has graciously arranged for us to have a special site visit/tour of their facility in Puslinch.  This offsite meeting will replace our regular breakfast meeting. 

Sunrise is located on a 102-acre farm just south of the 401 in Puslinch Township. The farm is just a 15-minute drive from both Cambridge and Guelph, offering a variety of accessible and innovative facility resources, made possible by capital grants from local service clubs, corporations, individuals and foundation, including the Ontario Trillium Foundation.  It's mission is to develop the full potential of children and adults with special needs through therapy, education, horse riding, recreation, and life skills programs, farm-related and social activities, and to further develop and expand Sunrise’s programming to support a Residence/Respite Village Community.

For those newer members in particular this will be a good opportunity for you to become more familiar with this charitable organization that we have supported for more than 20 years.  Since 2003 they have been the principal recipient of funding from our annual "Taste of Italy" pasta dinner and have partnered with us on service initiatives like hosting busloads of children from the Shelldale community for picnics at the farm.

A continental breakfast (coffee/tea, muffins, fruit and yogurt) will be available for those attending. And who knows, you might even get to meet "Miami" the therapy horse that our club is currently sponsoring.

Our regular breakfast meeting is cancelled this week.  Instead we will be gathering for Hallowe'en fellowship and fun on Oct 30th at a members' home.

Rotary has always had a long-standing tradition of asking new members to give a “classification talk” – to tell a story to introduce themselves. Every Rotarian has a story. Why you joined, why you stay, how your involvement, your service, or your friends add to your life – it’s all there. Why tell it? Because it gives the members a chance to learn about what Rotary means to you, strengthen your bonds with other Rotarians and deepen your club’s sense of community.  This week one of our newest members, Mary Quimby-Edwards, will give her Classification Talk, providing us with some insight into her life beyond Rotary.

The Membership Committee will provide updates on new Membership categories and other initiatives that they have been working on and/or considering.

Our regular weekly breakfast meeting is being withheld this week.  Instead our members will be able to join members of the other 3 Guelph clubs for a special holiday dinner celebration (date/venue TBA).

This meeting will focus on holding the Annual Members Meeting along with the Election of the 2027-2028 Board of Directors and appointment of the 2027-2028 Officers.

We'll share one final breakfast and fellowship together before the break for the Christmas/New Years holidays.
