The 11th annual Tour de Guelph community cycling event, co-sponsored by LabelDesign Ltd and Scotiabank, was another resounding success!  A record breaking 780 riders has raised about $192,000 (so far) against its 2024 goal of $200,000 with donations being accepted until July 3rd. Planning will begin soon for the 12th annual event that will be held on June 22, 2025.

Proceeds from the event will benefit Guelph General by helping them expand their inventory of colonoscopes so they can keep pace with important, and often life-saving, screening exams and medical procedures. The two Rotary clubs (Guelph South, Guelph Trillium) will use their portion of the proceeds to support their important local and international projects.  Members of both Rotary clubs sit on the planning committee with the Foundation of Guelph General Hospital, and other club members volunteered to place/remove signs, organize rest stops, register riders, and act as course marshals.  And members also rode! One Guelph South Rotarian, Matt Hiskett, was joined by his wife Tracy and 2 daughters. Another Guelph South Rotarian, 87 year old Charlie Barnes, extended his winning streak as highest individual fundraiser by raising more than $28,000 in donations for his ride as part of the Guelph Triathlon Club team this year, bringing his 7 year total to more than $100,000.
