His message was clear. Many past water projects have failed in that they provided
wells, western technology and goodwill, but fell short of meeting true local needs,
aligning with local culture, providing local employment and revenue opportunities,
and most importantly long term sustainability. But the good news was that the
new Global Grant structure has worked to address these issues and now projects
must adhere to clear needs assessments, involvement of local people and be truly
sustaining in nature. WASRAG has numerous projects on the go and even more
clubs are getting involved in long term work. Gone are the days of a simple small $$
project developed and completed in one year. Collaboration with multi clubs here at
home and working closely with the host clubs and local recipient peoples abroad are
solving real problems and making a lasting difference in the world.

Water is not the end goal. Water is a means to it.

Other dinners are planned and Ron’s presentation is available for all to share.
