The red tulip has been associated with Parkinson’s awareness since 1980 when a Dutch horticulturalist who had PD developed a red and white tulip and named it "Dr. James Parkinson.”   In April 2005, the red tulip was launched as the Worldwide Symbol of Parkinson's Disease and has inspired a grassroots movement combining efforts and resources to help find a cure in our lifetimes.

A reminder that Karen Dowell is taking orders for the 2018 Parkinsons Tulips (potted only this year, no cut flowers) at $10 per pot - she will bring all ordered pots to the March 29th weekly meeting, you can pick up and pay for them there.  Please let her know ahead of time if you want to order some (karen.dowell@parkinson.ca) so that she can be sure to have your order available on March 29th.
