Barbara Zuccala is a retired educator and volunteer born in Guelph.  We honour Barbara, a 30+ years Special Education Teacher who "advanced and helped shape present pedagogical practice in this field of Ontario Education".   Volunteer since 2006 at Hospice Wellington in many roles, including “literally hundreds of hours researching spirituality and multi-cultural issues in the Hospice Palliative care setting. She has created a resource binder for staff and volunteers to use to support excellent client centered practice in the care setting, as well as fostering links with spiritual care providers in our area”.  Key non-Rotarian volunteer with the 2010 and 2011 Pasta Dinner fundraisers “because she cares about people and genuinely believes that her many talents are to be shared to help improve conditions for others”.  Nominated by Rotarian Cheryl Cowan and supported by Rosslyn Bentley (Executive Director, Hospice Wellington, Guelph) and Terry Tedesco (Retired Vice-Principal, Toronto Catholic District School Board).

Dr. Paul Thistle is a medical doctor with family roots in Toronto.  We honour  Captain Thistle, a missionary doctor at The Salvation Army Howard Hospital, Glendale, Zimbabwe.  This hospital serves approximately 270,000 people.  Government funding is minimal.  "Paul has spent 15 years using his considerable medical expertise to care for the disadvantaged people of Zimbabwe at Howard Hospital.  Despite the considerable setbacks, challenges and lack of equipment, Paul soldiers on for the people who need medical care and a champion."  Nominated by Rotarians Wilbert Abbott and Ann Caine.
