Our own Charlie Barnes has been chosen to be one of the 7 recipients of the United Way's “Top 7 over 70” award for 2026. At 88, Charlie Barnes continues to redefine what aging can look like. An accomplished triathlete, cyclist, fundraiser, and community volunteer, he has raised more than $150,000 through Tour de Guelph in support of local healthcare and community programs. Whether competing internationally, mentoring athletes, or inspiring others to give back, Charlie demonstrates that passion, purpose, and community service have no age limit.
July 31 2026 marked the 25th anniversary of our club being chartered, and our 6 Charter Members got together for lunch on July 31st at Springfield Golf & Country Club which was our “home” for so many years.
It was just so fitting that we mark our 25th anniversary together - sharing the occasion with these fellow Rotarians who have come to mean so much to each of us, and in a place that has meant so much to us as well.

A wonderful evening unfolded at Frank's house as the Rotary Club of Guelph South celebrated its annual changeover! With Heather as our gracious host, the atmosphere was filled with warmth and friendship. Frank and John fired up the BBQ, serving delicious hamburgers, while members brought an array of salads and a plethora of desserts that satisfied every sweet tooth.
A beautiful summer day saw a record-setting 900+ ridership in the 13th Annual “Tour de Guelph” community cycling event held on Sunday June 28th. Thanks to corporate sponsors Label Design and Denso, the organizing team, volunteers and riders for another great event that promises to set another fundraising record! The fundraising goal for 2026 is $230,000 and donations will continue to be accepted online at www.tourdeguelph.ca until Sunday July 12th.

On Saturday April 18 2026, in partnership with the wonderful Guelph GoGo Grannies (4 G’s) our club hosted a delightful Scrabble fundraising event that brought the community together. The atmosphere was filled with laughter and joy, creating a warm and inviting space for everyone. Guests enjoyed a variety of exciting activities, from craft stations to 50/50 raffles, delicious snacks, and refreshing mocktails. The lively sounds of music filled the air, alongside fun gift card giveaways and so much more. It was a beautiful reminder of the amazing things that can happen when we come together for a shared purpose.
Most importantly, the funds raised during this special day will make a meaningful impact. Proceeds totalling $2,777.91 went to support “The Bench” in downtown Guelph, which works tirelessly to combat hunger and homelessness.
Meanwhile, the dedicated GoGo Grandmothers contributed to the HIV/AIDS Family Support Program in Africa, empowering families and providing vital resources across the globe.
The day was filled with friendly competition, culminating in an incredible team score of 809! Most groups scored between 400-550, making it an exciting event to remember. We can't wait to see everyone again next year for more fun and community spirit!
